How did the Keg of Nails start?

Cincinnati beat Louisville 7-0 at Parkway Field on October 2, 1929. Fraternity chapters at the two schools are believed to have started the keg exchange, though nobody knows for sure who introduced it. The schools were conference rivals in the Missouri Valley, Conference USA and the Big East, and played every year from 1966 to 2013 apart from a 1992-1996 break. The series stopped when Louisville joined the ACC in 2014, and the keg came back out when the teams met in the 2022 Fenway Bowl, which Louisville won 24-7.
